Membership Requirements

New Legion Membership

Yearly membership dues $50.

Eligible veterans applying for first time membership must submit the following information to the Post.

Make checks payable to American Legion Post 38.  Do not send cash

Must provide a copy of your DD214 discharge.

Mail application, copy of DD-214 & check for $50 to the above address, or drop off at the post.

                                                   NEW MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILITY

A new law called the Legion Act (Let Everyone Get Involved In Opportunities for National Service Act) was recently passed and signed by President Trump on July 30, 2019.  

This new law allows thousands of more veterans to join the American Legion. Under this new law, any honorably discharged veteran who has served since December 7, 1941 may join the American Legion, meaning military veterans who served in what were previously considered periods of peacetime between wars are now eligible for membership. 

The Legion Act also opens the door for approximately 6 million veterans to access American Legion programs and benefits for which they previously had not been eligible.

The Legion Act also opens the doors for spouses and descendants, extending membership eligibility in The American Legion Family to hundreds of thousands who had previously been excluded.

New membership applications are being revised because of the passing of the Legion Act.  Continuing using the one attached, and just write on it LEGION ACT in the section where it indicates the dates of eligibility.
